What about Roy McMillan’s performance did you like? Some of the battle descriptions are quite grim, but particularly disturbing was the description of his capture and torture by Turkish troops. The way Lawrence wrote about Auda, he seemed clearly in awe of him.

He is such a larger than life character, its almost difficult to believe that such an extraordinary person ever lived.

I love the descriptions of Auda of the Abu Tayi and his various exploits. There are so many it is difficult to choose, and so much variation. What was one of the most memorable moments of Seven Pillars of Wisdom? This memoir has so much detail, and so much happens, and it is so full of strange sounding names of tribes and tribal leaders and places, and so much intrigue, that it is possible to thoroughly enjoy going through it once to get the big picture and then go through it again to go over the details you missed the first time and still thoroughly enjoy it the second time! Production notes: This ebook of Seven Pillars of Wisdom was published by Global Grey on the 27th October 2021. This book has 398 pages in the PDF version, and was originally published in 1926. Lawrence died in a motorcycle accident at the age of 46. In the preface, the author says that George Bernard Shaw helped him in editing the book. The title of the book comes from the Book of Proverbs - 'Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars.' With the persuasion of his friends, who believed that finishing it would help his mental state, he produced an abridged version of the book he was originally writing.

It was based on extensive notes that he kept during his time in Africa but at one time, was at risk of not being finished as Lawrence was suffering the psychological effects of the war. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia), a British Army Colonel who served as a military advisor to Bedouin forces in Wadi Rum in Jordan during the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Turks of 1916 to 1918.
